Don’t blame NDC for Ghana’s return to IMF; you’re a failure – Minority blasts Bawumia

The Minority has requested that Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, as head of the Economic Management Team, take responsibility for the economic difficulties the country is suffering under his watch.

According to the Minority, they are not shocked that the Vice President attributes the economic difficulties to the National Democratic Congress administration under by former president John Dramani Mahama.

In addition, the Minority labeled Dr. Bawumia as a failure and stated that the NDC is not to blame for Ghana’s return to the IMF.

The Minority in Parliament refuted Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s claims that the Mahama government contributed to Ghana’s return to the IMF.

In his address on the economy on Thursday, 14 July 2022, Dr. Bawumia, in addition to identifying Covid-19 and the Russia-Ukraine war, also cited the banking sector clean-up and energy sector debt as Mahama administration legacies that have forced the current government to seek a bailout from the Bretton Woods Institution.

Mr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the Minority’s Finance Spokesperson, contended to the media today, Friday, 15 July 2022, that Nana Akufo-administration Addo’s is totally responsible for the current dire economic conditions.

The former deputy minister of finance urged the vice president in charge of the Economic Management Team to accept his failures with humility and move on.

John Abu Jinapor, the ranking member of the Mines and Energy Committee, further accused the government of diverting more than GHS24 billion accruing to the ESLA to cover a GHS9 billion debt.
