Ghana missing from 2022 BET Awards nominations

The nominations for the 2022 BET Awards have been announced, and there are no Ghanaian artists on the list.

Ghana missed out on the nominations for the second time in a row, having previously missed out in 2021.

The 2022 BET Awards will air live on BET on Sunday, June 26 at 8pm ET from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

BET announced the nominees for the 2022 awards on June 1, with Doja Cat receiving the most nominations with six.

The nominees for this year represent a wealth of creative expression and Black brilliance in music, television, cinema, and sports.

African performers such as Tems and Firebboy DML from Nigeria and Major League DJZ from South Africa were nominated for International Act nominations to make the continent proud. Wizkid was also nominated for Best Collaboration for his song Essence, which features Justin Bieber and Tems.

In 2012 and 2015, respectively, Ghana’s Sarkodie and Stonebwoy received the award for Best International Act, Africa. In 2014 and 2015, the former was also nominated for the same award.
