The principal of the Chuho elementary school in Uganda was convicted of aggravated defilement and sentenced to 18 years in jail. Wilson, the school’s principal, had been sleeping with the victim since her enrollment in the institution.
Wilson Habiyakale, 39, was convicted on Friday as a result of a successful prosecution following his arrest and subsequent arraignment in court in March, when he was formally charged with defiling a 14-year-old primary seven student at the school head.
The headmaster invited the victim into his office and ordered her to disrobe using his authority, after which he slept with her continually while the class was in session.
Students’ observations of her frequent visits to the principal’s office triggered the red flag; he was arrested and charged in court.
He pleaded guilty and admitted that he slept with the minor while in a position of authority. The court found him guilty and sentenced him to 18 years in prison.
He admitted that he had been sleeping with the victim, a primary school student, for the previous three years.
