Police should’ve allowed Arise Ghana protestors into Jubilee House- Kofi Akpaloo

Percival Kofi Akpaloo, founder and head of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), says the Ghana Police Service should have permitted the Arise Ghana protesters to picket the Jubilee House.

According to him, he does not comprehend why the Ghana Police Service would engage in an altercation with the protestors over this issue.

“I do not comprehend why the police decided to deploy tear gas to contain the crowd, given that the demonstration has failed due to the leadership. The Police should have let them to enter the Jubilee House because there is nothing better for them to do once they arrive.

Kofi Akpaloo told Accra’s Neat FM that it was evident that the demonstration was prompted by NDC members such as Sammy Gyamfi, Joshua Akamba, and others, making the purpose of the demonstration politically motivated.
As a result of a dispute between the leaders of the pressure group and the police over the routes to be taken, the protest turned violent.

The police insisted on executing the court’s directive that the protestors go through Farisco, TUC, and Independence Square.
