Qatar World Cup to Feature Three female Referees.

Stephanie Frappart from France, Salima Mukansanga from Rwanda, and Yoshimi Yamashita from Japan were all picked as referees at the men’s World Cup; three female assistant referees were also recruited. Qatar 2022 occurs between November 21 and December 18.
On the list for Qatar 2022 are three female referees and three female assistant referees who have already paved the path for female officials in the men’s game.
Stephanie Frappart has been a pioneer in Europe, serving as the first woman to officiate a Champions League match and European Qualifier in recent years, as well as Ligue 1 matches.

Earlier this year, Rwandan Salima Mukansanga became the first woman to referee a match at the Africa Cup of Nations.

They will be Neuza Back (Brazil), Kathryn Nesbitt (United States), and Karen Diaz Medina (Mexico).
Pierluigi Collina, chairman of the FIFA Referees Committee, stated, “This finishes a lengthy process that began several years ago with the deployment of female referees at FIFA men’s junior and senior competitions.

Earlier this year, Japanese-born Yoshimi Yamashita became the first woman to referee an AFC Champions League match.

“In this way, we emphasize that quality, not gender, is what matters to us. I believe that in the future, the selection of great women’s match officials for major men’s events will no longer be viewed as something extraordinary. “They deserve to be at the FIFA World Cup because they consistently perform at a very high level, and that’s the most important thing for us.”

Oliver and Taylor are two of the 36 referees in the Premier League, while Simon Bennett, Gary Beswick, Stuart Burt, and Adam Nunn are among the 69 assistant referees. Additionally, there will be a staff of 24 VAR officials.

Collina continued, “As always, ‘quality first’ was our guiding principle, and the selected match officials represent the finest level of officiating in the globe. The 2018 World Cup was mostly successful because to the great quality of refereeing, and we will strive to be even better in Qatar in a few months. Our activities were impacted by the epidemic, particularly in 2020 and the beginning of 2021. Fortunately, the World Cup was still very distant, and we had plenty time to prepare the candidates adequately. We are announcing these picks far in advance because we want to work even more closely with all those appointed for the FIFA World Cup over the following few months.

The message is clear: don’t rest on your laurels, keep working hard, and take your preparation for the World Cup extremely seriously.

The selected match officials will engage in many seminars this summer, watching and analyzing video clips of actual match scenarios and engaging in practical training sessions with players that will be filmed so that participants can receive immediate feedback from their instructors.
