Former IBF lightweight champion Richard Commey is scheduled to fight Jose Pedraza at super lightweight on ESPN’s Top Rank card on July 23 at the Grand Casino in Hinckley, Minnesota.

Commey (30-4, 27 KOs) will make his debut at 140 pounds against former lightweight champion Pedraza (29-4, 14 KOs), who will be having his sixth fight at the weight.

After losing a one-sided encounter to Vasyl Lomachenko in December, the New York-based Ghanaian fighter is set to make a victorious return to the ring.

Commey’s manager, Michael Amoo-Bediako of Streetwise Management, confirmed the fight and explained that Top Rank was considering the date.

However, he emphasized that the two boxers have yet to sign contracts to make the match official.

“Negotiations are far advanced, and the 23rd of July is now being regarded as the planned date for the fight.

“However, we have yet to sign the various contracts to make the fight official, as that’s the only thing left,” Amoo-Bediako said to Graphic Sports.
