Last May, all of the kids were drinking alcohol, and some of them, including Cameron, were swimming in their underpants in the pool.

She claims she awoke at her friend’s house with a pillow over her face, and she requested him to stop numerous times, but he refused.

However, after Illinois judge reversed his own decision to convict a teen accused of raping a 16-year-old girl in May to avoid giving him the mandatory sentence of four years in prison which he thinks is excessive for the crime.

Drew has spent five months in the county jail awaiting sentencing. At a January sentencing hearing, his attorney begged the judge to overturn his guilty verdict, or to at the very least ignore the state’s mandatory minimum sentence of four years in prison.

An Illinois judge has overturned his decision to convict a boy accused of raping a 16-year-old girl in May in order to avoid imposing the obligatory four-year term, which he believes is harsh for the offense.

Drew Clinton, 18, was found guilty of sexually assaulting Cameron Vaughan, now 16, during a graduation celebration at a separate teenager’s house in Quincy, Illinois, last May by Judge Robert Adrian, 64.

Cameron, who declined to be identified, claims she fell out drunk in the basement and awoke to discover Drew sexually assaulting her with a pillow over her face. He maintains they had consenting sex and she was not as inebriated as she alleges.

Drew has been in the county jail for five months awaiting punishment. His lawyer pleaded with the judge to reverse his guilty finding, or at the very least overlook the state’s mandatory minimum penalty of four years in jail, at a sentencing hearing in January.
