Charcoal seller allegedly commits suicide over GHS 3,000 debt

Kwabenya Gyata, a 22-year-old charcoal trader, was discovered dead in an abandoned public toilet at Gomoa Obiri in the Central Region’s Gomoa West District.
According to reports, the deceased went missing a few days ago before being discovered dead in an abandoned public bathroom.

In an interview with Adom News, Nana Obiri Darko Apoh Bondam V, Chief of Gomoa Obiri, alleged that his checks proved that the dead committed suicide over a GHS 3,000 debt.

He stated that the deceased received the money from a client for the bulk purchase of charcoal, but he did not provide the service or refund the money because it had already been spent.

Nana Obiri Apoh believes the dead committed suicide to escape more disgrace.

The police have been notified, and the body has been recovered.
