Recent online statements from the National Communications Director of the major opposition party (NDC) regarding the aftermath of the most-talked-about “Arise Ghana” demonstration have sparked widespread alarm among Ghanaians.
In a recent interview on the “Good Morning Ghana” show with host Dr. Randy Abbey, Sammy Gyamfi revealed that he hadn’t slept well since the two-day march against the Akufo-Addo administration and others.
“No, I have not been able to sleep during the entire night. I have not been able to sleep due to the fact that there is no sign from the police that our detained comrades would be released on bail. Ghana is neither a monarchy nor a dictatorship. I cannot fathom why the police force led by Dampare would violate the rights of these arrested individuals, as well as the Ghanaian constitution and the laws of this country.”
