Mr Eazi, a popular Nigerian artist, has gone to the moon. He proposed to Temi Otedola, a fashionista and the daughter of Nigerian billionaire Femi Otedola, and their engagement has ignited the internet.
Set the internet ablaze? Certainly. The engagement is presently trending because Nigerians have been waiting for it for four years as the lovebirds, who have been crowned the country’s favorite celebrity pair, have inflamed social media with their love story.
But the truth is that Temi has finally handed him “leg over,” a slang term popularized by Mr Eazi’s hit tune “Leg Over.”
If the events that set it off are any indication, their love story is nothing short of a fairy tale. Nonetheless, no sooner had the pair announced their engagement than Nigerian celebs congratulated them, clearly overjoyed. Tiwa Savage, Simi, Joeboy, Adesua Etomi, Broda Shaggi, Sharon Ooja, and BBNaija stars Bisola and Neo are among them.

Temi’s sister, popular Disc Jockey and performer Florence Otedola, called DJ Cuppy, who is currently studying for a second Master’s degree at the University of Oxford, is notable among the celebs.
DJ Cuppy responded to the engagement on Sunday, thanking Mr Eazi for giving such joy to their family. “Today is one of the MOST HAPPY DAYS OF MY LIFE… Mr Eazi, thank you for giving such joy to our family! … Oya, what is the wedding hashtag? Congratulations on your engagement, my favorite couple!
“I’m very glad that my lil sister Temi Otedola has found her personal person!” she said in another tweet. Hello, @MrEazi. WELCOME TO THE FAMILY, I’ve always wanted an older brother! PS: I introduced you to me, so find me my own o!”
Indeed, DJ Cuppy was crucial to the celebrity couple’s love story, as it was through her that Mr Eazi and her sister met. That’s what DJ Cuppy meant when she tweeted on Sunday that she had introduced them.
However, Mr Eazi stated in an interview in 2018 that while he met Temi through her, she (DJ Cuppy) did not introduce her sister to him in the strictest sense.
He did, however, meet his fiancée through DJ Cuppy. The Leg Over singer was quoted as stating he met his fiancée after her sister, DJ Cuppy, who is a friend of his, invited him to one of her many events in London, United Kingdom. According to him, they were seated at the same table and began conversing when DJ Cuppy left the table to take the stage.
“I first met Temi in London. It was an occasion that her sister had asked me to. Her sister was performing at the event, someplace in Knightsbridge, and she said, oh come out, follow me to this event, so I followed her to the event and then she started disc-jockeying and all of a sudden it was just me and Temi sitting down and just watching her,” Mr Eazi explained.
However, Eazi claimed that the star Disc Jockey never formally introduced Temi as her sister or him as a friend, only that he “toasted” his fiancée in her absence and that they bonded.
“Not really, she didn’t want to meet my sister, you know, she invited her sister and I. And by the time her sister arrived, she was already playing, so it was just me and her at the table. So, obviously, you have to socialize, so I said, “Hi what’s up, my name is Mr Eazi,” the Leg Over singer insisted. Nonetheless, Temi said on the podcast ‘How Far with Mr Eazi and Temi’ that it was her sister DJ Cuppy who introduced her to him, adding that DJ Cuppy had told her that she liked him but that if the relationship didn’t work out with both of them, she would continue working with Mr Eazi.”
“I can never forget the only thing she (DJ Cuppy) said, those first weeks we were dating, she had obviously introduced us and she was there and she was still cultivating a working relationship with you [Mr Eazi], she was there and she was still cultivating a working relationship with you [Mr Eazi],” she wrote.
“And so, she phones me and says,’so you guys are dating formally, and I said, yes, I like him, and she says, all I am going to say is that if things don’t work out with you both, I am going to keep my professional relationship with him [Mr Eazi].” and she was forthright about it.”
It will be noted that Mr Eazi’s business relationship with DJ Cuppy started when he recruited her service as a Voice-over artiste to release the tune entitled ‘Fight’. This song was the sixth track on his 2017 album Accra To Lagos.
Nonetheless, DJ Cuppy has never hidden her affection for her sister. In response to Temi and Mr. Eazi’s “How Far Podcast,” she once stated that listening to the podcast “makes me want to fall in love this year,” pleading with them to “please be together forever!”
Mr Eazi and Temi began the podcast in 2021, where they discussed their relationship and the dos and don’ts of being in a relationship. Now that their relationship is official and they are about to tie the knot, no doubt they are well-versed in the dos and don’ts.
