Chairman Wontumi re-elected for 3rd time

Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi, was re-elected as Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region with relative ease.
Chairman Wontumi was initially elected in 2014 and re-elected in 2018. Previously, he served as constituency chairman for Bosomtwe.

Chairperson Odeneho Kwaku Appiah (COKA), who received 306 votes and entered the chairmanship race after over two decades as constituency chairman for Afigya Kwabre South, received the second-most votes.

His opponents in this year’s election were Asare Bediako, Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, Owusu Aduomi, and Oheneba Kofi Adum Baahu.

Former Asokwa Constituency Chairman Robert Asare Bediako, who ran for re-election, finished third with 20 votes. In his first attempt in 2018, he withdrew from the race at the eleventh hour, leaving Wontumi unopposed.

Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, a former MP for Ejisu who lost his re-election campaign to Dr. John Kumah in 2019, ran for the first time in the regional election and finished fourth with nine votes.

Oheneba Kofi Adum Bawuah received three votes to place fifth.
